Nowadays, it seems that just about everyone has their very own air fryer! But, just like all other kitchen appliances, air fryers can sometimes experience some mechanical hiccups. And “Why does my air fryer keep turning off?” is, unfortunately, a common complaint.
If you are currently finding that your air fryer is frustratingly turning itself off when you’re trying to use it, there are a variety of things you can do to remedy the issue.
Below, we share some ways that you can troubleshoot your air fryer quickly, and get it back working as it normally should. Read on!
Why Does My Air Fryer Keep Turning Off?
With the ability to make delicious food in a matter of minutes with absolutely no effort required, air fryers are able to prepare food by innovatively circulating hot air, so it’s no surprise that it has gained a reputation as being one of the most convenient kitchen appliances currently on the market.
Nevertheless, even though owning an air fryer has become all the rage (just take the social media hype, for instance) that doesn’t mean that they don’t come without any technical problems.

There are a variety of reasons as to why your air fryer might be suddenly turning itself off while it is being used for cooking.
Even though the most common reason is due to the power source, below we are going to be sharing with you two of the most common culprits, so you can get to the root cause of what’s causing your air fryer to turn off
The Power Cord/Connection
One of the most common reasons that your air fryer might be turning itself off is simply due to a faulty power cord or connection.
These are far more common than you might think, and are often one of the biggest reasons that air fryers are unable to operate as they normally would.
Why? Well, to put it simply, if the power cord is faulty then it is highly likely that it is going to be able to supply your air fryer with enough power to stay on, let alone turn your favorite food golden and crispy!
So, with that being said, if you are currently experiencing random power outages of your air fryer, then you should be sure to inspect the power cord/supply.
To help determine whether there is an issue with your power cord, we recommend that you first take a moment to check for any visible signs of damage, including any frayed spots due to a shortage.
If the cord itself is a problem, you can try to fix it yourself.
The Outlet Connection
If you can’t see any obvious signs of damage, then we recommend that you take a moment to also check whether or not the power supply has been correctly inserted into the wall socket.
As we’re sure you’re already well aware, it is super easy for a cord to become loose and insecure inside the socket.
On the other hand, if none of these above seem to be the issue, then you might need to check the circuit breaker.
Before you do this, make sure that you troubleshoot by inserting some other appliances into the plug sockets connected to the circuit breaker to make sure that it is not something to do directly with your air fryer
The Air Fryer Itself
If you don’t find that there are any issues with the power supply, then another thing you should do is immediately inspect your air fryer for any clear signs of fault.
Loose Pieces
Keep an eye out for any loose components that could be potentially interfering with the air fryer’s ability to remain turned on, or even for any missing pieces that could also be preventing your air fryer from performing as it should be.
Cracks
If you can’t see any loose or missing pieces, then you should take a few moments to inspect your air fryer for any cracks or other obvious signs of damage, as this is another thing that could potentially be impacting your air fryer.
Faulty Door
In addition to all of the above, another reason why your air fryer might be turning itself off suddenly while you are using it is simply due to a faulty door.
Believe it or not, a faulty door is one of the most common reasons why an air fryer will suddenly turn itself off and is usually caused by general wear and tear from everyday use.
To inspect your air fryer’s door to see if there are any issues, check to see if your door slots itself into place and closes with a click.
If it doesn’t do this, then there’s a good chance that your air fryer door is damaged and needs to be replaced.
How To Fix An Air Fryer That Keeps Turning Off?
If you’re unable to fix your air fryer by yourself and need some assistance, first try reaching out to the manufacturer for help.
If you still have a warranty on your air fryer, then you might be able to use it in order to get a replacement or free repair service.
However, if you don’t, then we recommend still reaching out to the manufacturer as they will still be able to assist you and help you figure out your next steps.
For the most part, even if you do not have a warranty covering your air fryer, you should still be able to send it off for a repair by a representative of your air fryer’s manufacturer.
On the flip side, if this isn’t an option for you, then you could alternatively send your air fryer off to a third-party repair service, just make sure that they’re reputable! If you learn that the costs of repairs aren’t worth it, you can replace it with an inexpensive air fryer and start over.
